Japanese seasonal fashion

In November in Japan, the weather becomes colder, and Japanese people start to change their wardrobes from the autumn and late summer wear to their winter wear.

Japanese seasonal fashion is an essential part of the nation's culture. And this blog from Yatabe sensei gives a personal and amusing view of the tough choices some of us have to make.

You can read this blog, and learn Japanese online while learning Japanese Kanji from the list below as well as improve your listening Japanese by watching the YouTube video accompaniment.

Wool or Synthetic fibers ?

Wool or Synthetic fibers ?

Its become cold now. So the other day I thought to myself, 'Its finally the season for a scarf,' so I reached into the drawer to pull one out. And when I did so, I found two yellow bugs busily eating away at one of my red scarves! No way ! There were already two holes in the scarf. I had put insect repellant in the drawer, but since I hadn't sealed it, the bugs must have gotten in somehow.

It was a shock. Wool is really delicious for bugs, isn't it. There have been advances in clothing recently, and I have a lot of acrylic clothes and sweaters which I cannot differentiate from real wool, but the bugs are not fooled by these. They cleverly went straight for wool clothes only and ate these.

I have decided against buying wool sweaters and scarves from now. You have treat them carefully, and I find this troublesome. But acrylic and polyester materials get fuzzballs easily don't they. So should I choose to battle with bugs, or to battle with fuzzballs? Or should I just give up on knitwear altogether....Its a tough choice.
