Julie (France) JLPT N2 Passed JLPT N1 Passed
When it came to studying for the N2, I found the JLPT lessons at Japonin(JOI) to be a wonderful addition to my regular textbook studies.
It was a great way to see all these new grammar structures in different contexts and drilling into nuances with the (invaluable) help of the teacher. In general I found the lessons intense and got a lot out of them, both in terms of new knowledge and getting used to the exam's format and tricks.
Like other Japonin(JOI) lessons, the environment is always supportive, fun and motivating. And of course since everything is in Japanese, it's also good for one's listening skills. I passed the N2 last year and look forward to signing up for the N1 preparation course next - I know it will help!

If you’ve been studying with Japonin(JOI), I look forward to welcoming you to N1. Even if it feels like a big step, give it a try. If kanji is tough, I’ll add furigana and help with the readings. At N1 we practice written and spoken Japanese separately to build confident understanding of both.

In advanced sentence pattern lessons, I emphasize how nuance changes with the speaker’s intent and context. I also introduce related expressions that are easier to grasp and remember. Each lesson includes practice questions that mirror the JLPT grammar format.

Each lesson, we work on two N1 sentence patterns. We contrast them with similar forms, then practice in short compositions. I carefully check your vocabulary and phrasing so everything feels natural. Bit by bit, you’ll gain the confidence to produce polished, advanced Japanese.
