Japanese Manga

Japanese Manga is a style of art that has grown steadily since the mid 20th century. There are many Manga artists that have become national figures in Japan. And almost everyone seems to have their favorite artists and writers. .

Some Manga are written for children, but there are also a surprisingly wide range of comic books for adults as well.

In this blog for Japanese learners, one of the Japanese teachers at JOI online school, Yuko Momoki, she introduces her favorite Manga artist.

Ryo Ikuemi

Ryo Ikuemi

If someone were to ask a Manga lover like myself, “which Manga aritist could you not live without ?” without a doubt, I would answer, “Ryo Ikuemi”. The attractions to Ryo Ikuemi's Manga are as follows:-

1. They always leave you with a tight feeling.
I always feel fidgety after reading them. I guess its because small movements of the heart are thoroughly drawn and they stick in your chest.

2. The characters always have a reverse side
There are no 'good people'. She shows us frankly that each character has a good part and bad part.

3. I like the Ikuemi guys
The male characters that appear in Ryo Ikuemi's Manga, or 'Ikuemi guys' are really cool. They couldn't possibly exist in the real world, you cannot tell what they are thinking and their looseness makes the heart palpitate.

Please try to get into Ryo Ikuemi's Manga which I recommend for adults.

Konnichiwa everyone ! My name is Yuko Momoki and I live in Yamanashi prefecture which is famous for peaches and grapes and is the gateway to Mount Fuji. I have a lively family of 5, consisting of my husband, 2 sons, my mother and myself and we live in an environment surrounded by nature.

Up to now, I have taught Japanese to people from various countries and we have laughed together, worried together, gotten angry and at times spent time together that was often more intense and fun than the time spent with good friends.

When I think about how I will be able to spend the wonderful time that we have to share together...well my heart just pounds! I will try to make sure that we succeed in progressing your Japanese together, douzo yoroshiku onegaiitashimasu.
