 今週は「大暑」を紹介します。

 1年の内で暑さが最も厳しくなる時期です。毎年7月23日頃から約2週間くらいです。 この時期、日本人は色々な方法で涼しさを感じる工夫をしてきました。

 例えば、目で感じる方法として、「花火」や「すだれ」、「金魚鉢」など。

 耳で感じる方法として、「風鈴」や虫の声など。

 肌で感じる方法として「打ち水」 や「浴衣」、「うちわ」など。

Japan major hot season

This is the hottest time of the year. It lasts for about two weeks from around 23 July every year. During this time of year, the Japanese have devised various ways to stay cool.

For example, fireworks, sudare (bamboo screens) and goldfish bowls are used as ways to feel the coolness with the eyes.

The ears can feel the coolness through wind chimes and the sound of insects.

You can feel it with your skin through Uchimizu (sprinkling water), yukata (summer kimonos) and uchiwa (Japanese fans).

With ateaing, shaved ice, watermelon, somen noodles, ramune, etc.

I hope you can beat the heat while enjoying yourself.

I started teaching Japanese to technical intern trainees and internship students, and since 2019, online Japanese instructor at JOI.

My main focus is on Business Japanese and JLPT grammar (N1,N2.N3) in particular. I am also available for short-term private lessons to improve your business Japanese skills before joining a company, taking an assignment, or changing jobs on your requested schedule.

I worked for a major machine manufacturer for about 40 years. During that time, I was assigned to various departments such as factories, trading, R&D, sales, general affairs, accounting, and auditing. With these experiences, I believe I can provide you with practical assistance in various situations when you are doing business in Japanese.
