  • What is LRC japanseTraining?

LRC stands for Listen → Repeat → Correct, a proven method created by experienced Japanese teachers to strengthen your Japanese listening skills and improve pronunciation at the same time, helping you speak more like a native.

Lessons are held online via Zoom with a maximum of 7 students per class, creating a comfortable, interactive learning environment.

The training focuses on “getting used to Japanese sounds”, enabling you to understand spoken Japanese instantly, without reading a script, just by listening.

    Who This Course is For

    Online lesson in progress
    • You are struggling to fully comprehend native Japanese speakers, need to ask for repetition or find conversations hard to follow.
    • You are a Japanese Anime and movie fan who wants to enjoy watching movies without relying on subtitles.
    • You are a Japanese speaker lacking confidence in pronunciation and you want to sound more natural in conversations.
    • You are a Japanese learner at the upper-intermediate Japanese level (CEFR B2 or higher) aiming to express yourself more clearly.

Key Features of the LRC Method

In a typical class, sentences and words are displayed on the screen for you to read. In LRC Training, however, the teacher reads the sentences without showing them. This trains you to understand Japanese purely from the sounds you hear, just like in a real conversation with a native speaker. This is the core feature of the course.

It may feel challenging at first, but if you don’t understand something, you can always ask to hear it again. The teacher will repeat it as many times as needed until it clicks.

With a maximum of 7 students per class, lessons are tailored to each learner’s pronunciation habits and specific areas for improvement. Through repeated listening and imitation, you will gain the confidence to speak with clear, natural pronunciation in everyday Japanese conversation.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to see improvement in Japanese listening and pronunciation?
Results vary, but many students report that after a few lessons, Japanese sounds and intonation become easier to catch and understand.
What makes this different from self-study with listening materials?

I want to mention especially the Listening classes which really helped me to understand and respond to people when I visit Japan. Of course, I still have a foreign accent, but I think this class really helps with pronunciation because listening, repeating and then having the teacher correct your pronunciation is very useful. During my last trip, I felt that most people understood what I was saying and that made things go very smoothly and pleasantly.

I personally really like the imitation classes hosted by Kumiko-sensei and it is such a great way to repetitively practice your listening, speaking, grammar, and translation all at the same time. Japonin also helps students prepare for the JLPT test, if that is your goal.

Have you ever found it hard to follow conversations between native Japanese speakers because they speak too fast? In fact, listening skills are deeply connected to pronunciation.

In this class, we sharpen your ear using LRC’s unique method:

    1. The teacher reads a sentence. Listen closely.
    2. Repeat what the teacher said, imitating the sounds.
    3. The teacher gives gentle feedback on pronunciation and intonation.

By repeatedly speaking out loud, you will naturally improve both pronunciation and listening ability.
Even if you don’t understand the meaning right away, that’s okay. Let's start by getting used to the Japanese sound.
