　今週は「案山子」を紹介します。

　9月になるとお米の収穫が始まります。 この時期に、できたお米を食べに色々な鳥が田んぼに来ます。 その鳥に、人間が見張っているように思わせるために、大きな人形を田んぼに立てます。　これが案山子です。

　昔は、簡単な人形が多かったのですが、この頃は人間そっくりに作られているもたものを沢山見かけます。 例えば、田んぼの中でグループでダンスをしているもの。 お婆さんが椅子にかけて、お茶を飲んでいるものなど。

　案山子は鳥をおどかす効果ももちろん大切ですが、見て楽しむ効果もあります。 日本の多くの田舎は人口が減っており、寂しいです。 でも、おもしろい案山子を見ると、人々は元気をもらいます。 最近、秋に案山子を見るために、田舎を訪れることが話題になっています。

案山子（かかし）

　今週（こんしゅう）は「案山子（かかし）」を紹介（しょうかい）します。

　9月になるとお米（こめ）の収穫（しゅうかく）が始（はじ）まります。 この時期（じき）に、できたお米を食（た）べに色々（いろいろ）な鳥（とり）が田（た）んぼに来（き）ます。 その鳥（とり）に、人間（にんげん）が見張（みは）っているように思（おも）わせるために、大きな人形（にんぎょう）を田（た）んぼに立てます。　これが案山子（かかし）です。

　昔（むかし）は、簡単（かんたん）な人形（にんぎょう）が多かったのですが、この頃（ころ）は人間（にんげん）そっくりに作（つく）られているもたものを沢山（たくさん）見かけます。 例（たと）えば、田んぼの中でグループでダンスをしているもの。 お婆（ばあ）さんが椅子（いす）にかけて、お茶（ちゃ）を飲（の）んでいるものなど。

　案山子（かかし）は鳥（とり）をおどかす効果（こうか）ももちろん大切（たいせつ）ですが、見（み）て楽（たの）しむ効果（こうか）もあります。 日本の多（おお）くの田舎（いなか）は人口（じんこう）が減（へ）っており、寂（さび）しいです。

　でも、おもしろい案山子（かかし）を見ると、人々は元気（げんき）をもらいます。 最近（さいきん）、秋（あき）に案山子（かかし）を見るために、田舎（いなか）を訪（おとず）れることが話題（わだい）になっています。

Japanese scarecrows

This week we introduce the Japanese scarecrows.

In September, the rice harvest begins. At this time, various birds come to the rice fields to eat the rice. In order to make the birds think that humans are watching them, large dolls are erected in the rice paddies.These are scarecrows.

In the past, most scarecrows were simple dolls, but nowadays you can see many dolls made to look just like humans. For example, a group of them dancing in the rice paddies. An old lady is sitting on a chair drinking tea.

Scarecrows are important to scare birds, of course, but they are also enjoyable to look at. Many rural areas in Japan have a dwindling population and are lonely. But when people see interesting scarecrows, they are cheered up. Recently, visiting the countryside in autumn to see scarecrows has become a popular topic of conversation.
