What kinds of
activities do you include in your
online Japanese classes?
I teach the Beginner 2 FlexLessons
class. In this online Japanese class,
each lesson focuses mainly on a
Japanese grammar point from the
textbook Minna no Nihongo Book 2. The
aim here is not not memorize grammar
points but to speak Japanese as much
as possible using natural phrases.
Every student of Japanese acquires
language at a different rate, and the
FlexLessons allow for this
flexibility. Each FlexLessons class is
complete Japanese lesson in itself, a
self-contained module. Whether you
take one online lesson a day, one a
week, or even one a month, FlexLessons
let you improve your Japanese at your
own pace.
I also teach private Japanese
lessons. In these courses I match the
lessons with the individual student's
needs. Some students study using
textbooks, others have mainly Japanese
conversation clases, while others
study toward the Japanese Language
Proficiency Test (JLPT)?everyone
learning Japanese has unique goals and
needs.
If you have a webcam, we can see each
others' facial expressions?it adds an
unexpected sense of reality to your
experience as you learn Japanese
online.
Please share your
thoughts on teaching and learning
Japanese.
One of the things I hear often is how
online Japanese classes at JOI let you
have a little fun while learning
Japanese. If you're not sure of your
level, just try a few classes to see
which suits you best. You may be
nervous during your first online
Japanese lesson, but don't worry: the
teachers and other students are bound
to welcome you kindly. Just relax and
give it a go.
