Hajimemashite ! My name is Izumi YANAKA.
Through my work as a System Engineer, I have had the experience of teaming up with foreign members of a team.
After seeing the difficulties the team members went through with communication and cultural differences,
I got to thinking, "If only there was something I could do to help !" Which was what led me to become a Japanese teacher.
How do you find studying Japanese ? Is it difficult ? Do you find it trying ?
At the beginning, easy phrases will do, just think of what you want to say and give it a go.
For example, let's talk about your favorite things. I like playing tennis, traveling, and gardening.
What do you like to do ?
What's the best phrase to say in this situation ?
Is this grammar usage correct ?
If you have questions like these on your mind, I want to answer them all one by one.
And in this way, without even realizing it, your Japanese will come to improve.
Once you are able to speak, it gets to be fun. It's not difficult, and not trying at all !
I will help you widen your Japanese speaking world.
Let's enjoy learning Japanese together.

What kinds of activities do you include in your online Japanese classes?
Low Intermediate/ Low Intermediate Grammar (incl. JLPT N3)
These classes are roughly divided into two types – Conversation classes and General classes which mainly focus on grammar.
In the conversation classes, we practice conversation corresponding to a specified theme once a month. In these lessons, our goal is to get you to communicate what you want to say. I will support you if you don't know the words. Please speak positively.
In the other lessons we focus mainly on grammar. We learn new sentence patterns (from within JLPT N3 grammar points) and review the forms of verbs, adjectives and the sentence patterns which you had studied in beginner level classes. There is a lot of vocabulary in my class, because I would like you to know a lot of new words in order for you to advance up to Intermediate level.
But don’t worry too much about it ! I will give you hints for the words in the class.
We often practice reading and listening too. I will help you to step up to the Intermediate classes smoothly, please give these classes a try.
This class mainly practices conversation. These lessons are basically divided into two patterns. One is where the conversation is based on a sentence pattern from within structures that are tested for the JLPT N2. At the beginning, we have an example conversation which allows you to understand what the sentence pattern is and how to use it in practical situations. And then we learn the day's point, by practicing the conversation. Finally we speak using the day's sentence pattern freely.
The other pattern of lesson is to speak about a specified theme. In these lessons, please speak freely without caring too much about your grammar and the sentence patterns. This lesson's goal is to allow you to speak your own opinions more fluently.
Please share your thoughts on teaching and learning Japanese.
The leading role of these lessons is you. Please don’t worry about making mistakes; speak more, read more, write more and listen more. If there is anything you don’t understand, please ask. I will help you to be able to say what you want to say. Let’s do our best together.
