Feelings in daily life

Feelings in daily life

As part of my grammar class lesson plans, I write one short blog entry each week.Their contents reflect small things that I felt in my daily life. For today, I will share some of the blogs from the past three years, which in total amount to about 150 blogs.

[October 2, 2020].
I eat natto fermented soybeans every day. Once a week my daughter buys a batch of them at the supermarket. At that time, she picks and buys a few items with older expiration dates. Because "if they are unsold, they will be thrown away", she says. However, when I buy milk and bread, I always choose those with newer expiration dates. But listening to my daughter's words made me reflect a little on my own actions.

[May 19, 2021].
There is one tree in my yard that has edible fruit. It is a Junberry tree. It is a tree was brought to Japan from Canada and the United States. As the name suggests, it produces red berries around June. My family harvests these berries every year and makes jam with them. It is really delicious. But wild birds also like these berries and come to eat them at harvest time, when the berries have turned red and large. It's that time of year again when wild birds and us start sharing (or competing for) the berries. It is fun to have something to share with birds.

[October 13, 2021].
I decided to buy a small shelf to organize my things. When you go to the store, you will find many different types of shelves. But most of the small and inexpensive shelves are made of plastic that can be assembled. But even though you purchase these shelves, someday they will probably become unusable and you'll have to throw them away. I stopped buying plastic products because I thought that throwing them away would not be good for the environment. In the end, I made the shelves by hand from sturdy cardboard boxes that I no longer needed. It felt a bit reassuring.

[February 23, 2022].
We have several kinds of dried flowers in our living room. We made this last year when the flowers were in bloom. In winter, not many flowers bloom naturally, so it is still nice to see flowers up close. The colors are a little pale, so they are very calming. We are so used to seeing them that we don't notice them very often, but actually there are some good things nearby.

[April 13, 2022].
I recently broke a cupboard that I had been using for over 20 years. The wood is deformed by deterioration and the front glass door has come off. The design's simple, but the structure remains solid and has not worn even after a long use. There are many small scratches on it , but it feels so familiar. I am now consulting with a furniture store to see if it can be repaired. Until now, I have thrown away all my furniture when it became old. This is the first time I wanted to use something even if it needed repair. I would like to cherish this feeling that I will be able to use it for a long time while fixing it up in various ways.

Konnichiwa! My name is Hiroshi Yamamoto. I live in Oita in Kyushu with my family (my wife, daughter and an old female cat). Oita is famous for hot springs. I often visit hot springs in the winter.

My hobbies are gardening and watching soccer. When caring for my plants, I notice their daily changes and I feel relaxed. About soccer, I played soccer until about 20 years ago. But now I just watch the game.

I worked for a machine manufacturer for about 40 years. During that time, I worked in various departments including factory, trade, research and development, sales, general affairs, accounting, and auditing. I think I can help you to understand about business, industry and life in Japan from my experience.

What is your purpose of studying Japanese? Let’s make your dream come true by learning Japanese. I will do my best in our class to help you achieve your goals. Please knock on the classroom door at any time.
